People: Sell your home to me!

I am getting so sick and tired of living in an apartment. Though we live in a nice neighborhood that is relatively free of crime and disarray, I’m getting so tired of apartment living. Whenever we buy anything, we have to haul it up three flights of stairs. It is not the sweat I mind from this task, but the logistical problems it presents. Also, we currently reside in a 1150 square foot apartment. I need MORE SPACE! Our lives are growing and evolving everyday and I am getting sick and tired of cramming things into an overstuffed closet.
So, here’s my proposal– sell your house to me for one quarter of the market value and I will be nice to you forever! Alright, alright, that may be a bit crazy. But, I can be nice to you for at least a year! In the area we live, junky, horrible homes are selling for ten times what they are worth. If you actually want a decent home, you are apt to pay millions of dollars. Why is this? Greed? Demand?
There are no “first home purchase plans” for people that live within our income range, as if we are living this lavish lifestyle. Frankly, our income supports us and pays the bills, but we cannot afford to take trips to Maui or Tahiti– it is a livable income. This, apparently, is just enough so no one wants to help me out when it comes to buying my first home.
What irritates me is that people that are jobless and collecting on a disability that does not exist can get assistance to purchase their first home. Most likely they will default on the mortgage they cannot afford and cost the bank more money. Yet, people that work hard for what have like us are shunned like lepers. However, I’m not jealous of this type of people, as I enjoy the quality of life I have and knowing that I worked hard for it. It makes me appreciate every moment a little bit more, instead of being a lazy leech.
